1. Introduce MAMAMOO
Mamamoo is a four-member girl group from RBW that debuted on June 19, 2014. The group's name, Mamamoo, means, "I will do music that is familiar to everyone around the world like the word 'Mama', which means 'Mom' that babies born in the world feel first and familiar." However, this is a superficial meaning and is actually a song lyrics (scat, scat) that rides the groove. In other words, the group name was not intended to mean this in the first place. MAMAMOO had been to Quincy Jones's after-party performance in Korea when he was a trainee before his debut, and he performed "Mr.It is said that the scat 'Mamamoo' was used in the early English version of 'ambiguous'.
2. Since our debut
Mamamoo grew up focusing on musical elements. During their trainee years, Mamamoo participated in the sound source and stage featuring of various artists and also appeared in music videos to improve their practical skills. In an interview, composer Kim Do-hoon said, "When MAMAMOO members were trainees, I gave them homework to make choreography, divide parts, harmonize, and even consider the costume concept, and MAMAMOO made the stage perfectly." RBW's video on trainee education introduced in a Japanese broadcast said, "When judging the individual practice results of trainees, make sure not to wear makeup as much as possible," which is believed to have helped create skills-oriented musicians. At The 1st Moo Party held in LA in October 2015, Mamamoo's pre-debut video saying that Mamamoo is good was released. In this video, there are several songs from Mamamoo's album, and you can see Mamamoo's young appearance before their debut, who has high-quality vocal, rap, and dance skills and sometimes seriously and sometimes playfully performs all the songs. The early choreography of "Freakin Shoes" from the second mini album Pink Funky and Whee In's rap appear.Mr. Ambiguous, do not be happy, includes a flirting girl. Quincy Jones also features an after-party in Korea, and the fifth member in the video is Choi Soo-jung, known as Afreeca TV BJ Sudang. He sang the primary's "question mark" with his own choreography, and it showed a degree of completeness that was too good to be left alone. There is also an unreleased version of UV's "Sorry I'm Not Cool" cover. It was very important to decide the concept accordingly to reveal Mamamoo's wide musicality. In fact, there are many musicians who have disappeared because their skills are outstanding but their song and team concepts are not supported. Accordingly, the concept chosen by Mamamoo was Retro, or "retro style." A strategy to proudly reveal Mamamoo's musicality with the concept and fashion of the 60s and 90s, which are difficult to digest. Therefore, the early songs usually emphasized real session-based soul, R&B, jazz, and strong vocals supporting him. This strategy worked very well at the beginning of its debut. A typical example is the reinterpretation of songs that have appeared in KBS's "Immortal Songs" several times and have been hit in the past. In 2014, Mamamoo began to go viral by releasing three joint songs, "Don't Be Happy," "Some Guy," and "Heheho," before the release of their first album Hello. The songs mentioned were released in January, February, and May, ahead of the release date of Mamamoo's first mini album on June 18, 2014. In fact, singer-songwriter songs played a big part in making Mamamoo's name known in the early stages of her debut. This is because "Don't Be Happy," "Someone," "Heheheho," "Piano Man," and "AHHOOP!" which spread word of mouth before MAMAMOO's debut and early activities were all written and composed by Sana, and the soulful atmosphere contained in Sana's songs was perfect for showing MAMAMAMOO's talent. Sna does not hide her attachment to Mamamoo, as she said in an interview that she gave Mamamoo the "Don't Be Happy" and "Some Boys and Girls" she had saved to sing. MAMAMOO's first mini album is Mr.It introduces new retro-style music sources such as Ambiguous and Baton Touch, and begins to differentiate itself from existing idol girl groups as a monster rookie "like a debut, not a debut." If you look closely on the debut stage, Solar's mustache props fell in the middle, but her eyes were not exposed to the camera at all, and she finished the stage safely as if nothing had happened. Even if it was intentional or accidentally, the dropped props are naturally kicked away with the dance moves. Hwa Sa also added an ad-lib in the middle that changed "Gentlemen and Ladies" to "M Countdown People." Before Mamamoo's debut, the logos were as follows, and before her official debut, the joint albums "Don't Be Happy" and "Some Guys and Girls" were used as album logos, and after that, they sometimes appear in music videos and stage videos.
